Hello!
MY NAME IS LORNA
My paintings are a reflection of my environment so therefore my art represents everything that I see, feel and experience. My aim in painting my subjects is to capture the beauty of the moment. I enjoy painting the everyday things, the things we miss or don't take notice of, yet, the familiar things that give us pleasure. Therefore, my aim is for the viewer to experience, get lost in and be moved by that moment. I believe that it's in these small details that we catch a glimpse of the Creator.
I mainly use acrylic paints as my medium but I also try to incorporate recyclable and organic materials in an aim to be more environmentally responsible. I'm intrigued by marine life so naturally, my mixed media paintings are so themed. I've recently found my "voice" by highlighting social ills, in a subtle way.
I enjoy using palette knife, poured paints and wax resit to achieve different desired textures. I love the marbling effect of the poured paint, the feathery-like results of the palette knife and the adaptability of wax resit. I try to incorporate these techniques in most of my work.
